Chehalis River Discovery Trail
I recently completed a painting for a 3.5 x 5 foot trail map sign for the Chehalis River Basin Land Trust. This map marks the trail along the river and includes landmarks and 18 insets showing flora and fauna along the trail. I used Tombow brush pens which are wonderful to work with - bright colors, water soluble inks allowing washes and glazing. In some areas I used Faber-Castell PITT permanent ink markers which allowed overglazes with no bleeding.
The trail dedication is Saturday, September 23. Located about 3.5 miles from I-5, Exit 88 (Grand Mound, WA), it is a great place to take an easy walk. A few weeks ago we saw Common mergansers, spotted towhees, scrub jays, a bald eagle, a sharp-shinned hawk, killdeer, sandpipers and black-tailed deer near the trail. For more detailed location info call the Chehalis River Basin Land Trust (360) 807-0764.
